Most exciting thing ever:

I GREW THOSE EARS. And they were d-fucking-icious!
(sorry for the poor image quality—took these photos with my cell phone.)
Behold the other vegetables of my labor:

You can’t really see them very well, but I’m holding a giant cucumber in one hand and a bunch of carrots in the other. Calla is frolicking in the background.
Here’s a close-up:

For some reason, these pictures are smaller:

(cherry tomatoes)

(basil)

(a ripening heirloom)

(a sunflower from the gargantuan self-seeded sunflower plant in the yard. It’s literally like 8 feet tall and has about 15 flowers)
Not shown:
green beans
chard
lettuce
Roma tomatoes
earlygirls (who were rather late this year)
other tomato varieties whose names I have forgotten
more basil
Happy harvest!

Go veg! I can’t wait to have a garden!
(way unrelated – didja see that Palin’s teenage daughter is pregnant? I saw that on the news and thought, omg, MDIC is probably screaming)

Awesome! Several years ago, my mother and her boyfriend embarked on a kind of self-suffiency garden thing, including starting with two pigs to churn up the ground. They did very well for a while. There is _nothing_ like fresh fruits and vegetables in terms of quality and taste.

Where is your garden? We’ve got a little tiny yard in this new apartment and I’m hoping that the landlord will let me have a little garden next season. I think it is SO COOL that you’ve been growing. Happy harvest back at cha.

Beautiful veggies!! So where is this garden? Is it a community garden? You’ve got all the ingredients for a magnificent salad. Seeing the photos and the list of produce makes me nostalgic for the Florida Road, CT garden.
