On the way to work this morning, a few minutes after the woman who was screaming, “ALL OF YOU PEOPLE ARE NO GOOD, JESUS CHRIST TOLD ME SO,” got off the bus, we pulled over to the side of the road. [Note: The crazy screaming lady has no particular relevance to this story. Other than I wanted to mention her.]
Several cars passed us as we sat idling barely twenty feet from a bus stop. We had already entered the campus of my place of employment; my stop was the one after next, a mere 20 second ride up the hill. So I knew that if worse came to worse, I could always just get off and walk to my building. But why were we just sitting there? Had the bus broken down? Was something wrong? Before my imagination could wander any further, the driver announced the following:
“Sorry, folks. Just pulling over for a bit. We’re 45 seconds ahead of schedule.”

I guess he has a thing for being punctual. Or would it be prompt? I don’t know … I’m habitually early. I wouldn’t know how to do things any other way.

That’s happened to me before… but not on the scale of seconds. It’s pretty maddening to wait for 15 minutes on a bus, but even more maddening to miss a once-per-hour bus because it’s 10 minutes early.
