My Dog is Chelsea

Where procrastination comes to flourish

This is just to say…

February 14th, 2007 · 22 Comments

…that Chelsea was WAY cuter than the dog who won Westminster. See for yourself:

Diamond Jim, age 7:

Unfortunate haircut

Chelsea the Stink, circa age 7:

Cutest dog ever

Still, the Springer pride in me couldn’t help but notice that a Springer won the show in 1993 (the year Stink was born), 2007 (the year she passed) and 2000 (the year she hit the mid-life mark).

Coincidence? Probably. That or it’s Chelsea’s subtle way of saying, “Damn straight, I am the cutest dog of all time.”

To everyone has left me thoughtful comments, voicemails, emails, etc.: Thank you. It’s hearing support from all of you that is helping me through this. If I have not yet responded, please do not take it personally, it just means that I’m a little overwhelmed right now but I still very much appreciate your thoughts.

I read your blog but don’t comment often. I’m so sorry for your loss - she was a well loved dog.

I know we havent kept in touch…and the fact that I havent updated in so long probably doesnt help… but my heart goes out to you. Im sure if wasnt easy…guess thats a part of finally being an adult - making those hard decisions. Hang in there and remember the time we met in the NYC cafe and bonded amongst the produce section. Care for some bananas? Oh well give me a shout when you get a chance. Cheers for Chelsea!

I saw in the paper today that a springer spaniel won at Westminster and thought that somehow the spirit of Chelsea made the best dog win.
What a cutie she was at age 7.

I must agree, Chelsea is much cuter. When we got my dog, she had been a show dog and had crazy long hair…they usually look a lot better when they AREN’T being shown.

Hey…Well I kinda got sick of Xanga so I’ve decided to switch to Wordpress…

Again, I’m SO sorry to hear about Chelsea…I will likely be going through that soon with my dog. She’s 14 now and definitely slowing down. It’s so hard to watch them go though that…

I just found you through Technorati. I was at the emergency vet with my Boston last night, and have lost another in recent years, so know the pain…and am very sorry to hear about Chelsea. I will be linking to you through http://www.blogher.org. Wishing you comfort.

That is the cutest picture of her too! Are you feeling better about what happened? I know that you did the right thing and I hope that you find peace with it. That had to have been one of the toughest things to go through. I’m so not looking forward to that day with my dog, Jax.

So sorry to hear about Chelsea. I am a golden retriever person, but those springers run a very close second - in fact Maggie’s (my pooch) best friend is a lovely liver and white Springer named Andy.

and she was definitely way cuter than Diamond Jim (and likely a lot more fun!!)

Laura, I just stopped by for the first time in a few days. I’m so sorry about Chelsea. There’s a reason that dogs are called man’s best friend. I’m still mourning my dog that passed ten years ago. You are in my thoughts.

I’m late in offering my sympathies, but I think Michael5000 said it bes:

    “You done good.”

When I hear of sad events like these, I always take time to give our kitties extra love. Chelsea will be honored here.

    Take care,
    brrad

I think that dogs have a way of saying a special hello from wherever they are, just to make sure that we are doing okay. Obviously, Chelsea had Westminster set up for your benefit just to say “Hi!” ;-)

  • 22 Truly // Feb 18, 2007 at 3:04 am

    Awwww….Chelsea! Be well, friend.
