The vet’s coming in three hours. I really don’t know if I can do this.

Aww. I’m so so so sorry that this is happening…She’ll be better off in doggie heaven where she can eat random objects, run around, and not ever feel pain! I’ll be thinking of you as well! Hang in there…

I’m sorry you have to be in such a horrible position. If it helps, this is the last obligation of the loving pet owner — to make the decision to end the suffering of their companion. We’re the half of the relationship with the ‘higher intellect’, and so it falls to us. That doesn’t make it easy, but sometimes it makes it doable.

It always hurts. It always sucks. But it has to be done.

    My condolences.

Laura, I’m sending big hugs your way. I am here if you need me, I could bring you tissues and beer and chocolate or make you dinner or bring a movie or book or hug or whatever…. don’t be afraid to ask! You are a wonderful person. Be well.
    Lots of love…

I had to put my doggie down last week. It was my last act of friendship. My heart goes out to you.

    Laura,
I was at the North Portland Vet this morning and noticed a letter-sized envelope in the out-going mail with the name “Laura Parisi” on it.
” Oh my god,” I thought.
I just got one of those sized envelopes from the vet’s a few weeks back.
(It was a heart felt condolence card from the best vet staff in the world, after my cat Peg had passed).
Not knowing if for sure it was what I thought it was, I asked a staff member if the card was going to the Laura Parisi that is the owner of Chelsea.
She said yes, and said that the vet had visited you last night.
I am so sorry for your loss.
I know that we haven’t always seen eye to eye on stuff, but the one thing we bonded on was our love for our animals. I know that your life is very much a part of Chelsea’s and vice versa. I know that loss will mean everything to you for a while. But I also know that your love for Chelsea will get you through all this.
There is a lesson in here somewhere. I am sure Chelsea’s memories and uncondtional love will help you find it.
    All my best,
    byron

    Laura,

My thoughts are with you. I know you’ve thought on this a long time and you know it was the right thing to do.

You’ve really done a lot for Chelsea, I mean you brought her to a new city to live out her golden years, how cool is that! I think you’ve made her long life happy and comfortable and that’s all anyone one could want.

    Laura,
You are in my thoughts. You made a tough decision but not without weighing all the options and doing what you belive is “the right thing to do.” No one will ever take your memories of Chelsea from you, so cherish them, and lean on them for strength.
    Love,
    Marisa

You were strong for her. In truth, I would that I could have been for my dog.

Awwww….your story about your Springer Spaniel Chelsea is sooooo sad to read! She looked like such a sweet dog!
In December of 2004, we put our 13-yr. old Springer “Sassy” to sleep, and it was soooo hard! She was sick and old, and kept getting worse! My mom, dad and I cried for days. We got a new Springer, 2 yrs. ago, and we love her to pieces too! Her name is Shadow! Springer Spaniels are sooo sweet and loving!
I just wanted to say hello and comment on your touching Chelsea story!
