Sorry for the delay of Part II of my Aunt Joanne story! I’m working on an article for the paper at the moment, and I’ve been scrambling to get all my reporting done and interviews transcribed so I can actually write the freaking thing. On top of that, I’m sick as a dog and have spent the last 48 hours drinking mass quantities of tea and TheraFlu (neither of which have provided any noticeable relief) and my voice has been fluctuating between screechy and inaudible. So… until my deadline and illness pass, I won’t be ending the story.
Edit: I have a lovely Easter lily in my apartment that has just begun to bloom, and guess what? Due to my cold/flu/mutant near-death virus I may have caught from Rubyblue123, I can’t smell it AT ALL. On the flip side, my dog Chelsea, whose stench on clear days probably reaches as far as Southern California, smells like absolutely nothing right now—to me, anyway.
Not being able to smell can be somewhat of a problem. For instance, on Friday I put on water for tea and wasn’t able to smell the fact that I had actually turned on the wrong burner and instead of heating up water, I had set fire to my cutting board (don’t worry, Aunt Joanne, I didn’t burn the one you gave me).
I’ve been turning on the wrong burner a lot lately. It’s really bizarre. I’ve done it at least four times in the last week, but I usually realize what I’ve done right away and correct it. This time, the burner was on long enough to actually ignite some serious flames and to fill my entire kitchen with a thick plume of smoke that had even my neighbor wondering if our apartment complex was on fire.
This edit was longer than I intended it to be. Must get back to work now.

Well I suppose that’s a long enough list of believable excuses that I’ll let you go this time (you tease).
Feel better soon!

I’ll sit here and wait patiently…tap…tap…tap….Okay, I’ll come back and wait patiently. Yay, you have work! Awww you are ill. I’m leaving a peep for you. Hope you feel healthier soon and that the work is completed more quickly than you thought it would be. It’s always cool when that happens.

Here’s hoping you’re feeling better soon. I just recovered from the mutant near death virus and it was nooooo fun. We’ll try to be patient.

I just caught up on the Aunt Joanne story below and am dying of curiousity. Hope you’re feeling better soon!
ryc: my hair isn’t those naturally beautiful, symmetrical curls some girls are lucky enough to have. Alas, mine is frizzy and wavy by turn, and when left to it’s own devices will do exactly the opposite of what it should. Therefore, I chemically induce it to behave.

I burned my food processor once by doing something similar. Oh, and a magazine and also a paper towel. Maybe I can’t be trusted …
I hope your sense of smell comes back. Is it possible Chelsea just doesn’t stink right now?

ryc:Yep! I moved sites. Sorry for the confusion. And regarding this edit: Holy crap! Do not try to clean that soot off the walls and ceiling while you are sick. It will make you worse! Oh, I wish I could send a maid over to take care of that. No fair! But there is the dog stank absence. That rules.

aww… hope you feel better soon. I bet once that article is done, the stress will melt away and so will your sickness! (like snow!)my dad ALWAYS turns on the wrong burner, and then as if that isn’t enough, walks away to do something and forgets that the burner is on for like 30 minutes. I’m actually really surprised that my parents house hasn’t burnt down yet. He once melted this antique tea pot we had. Yeah, it doesn’t sit so level anymore!

I’m glad your house is okay. I hope you feel better soon. I’m looking forward to the rest of the story. I’m suprised TheraFlu hasn’t helped. It really got me through my illness awhile back.

Maybe you should follow the same advice the doctor gave Grandma ” Don’t let her near a stove anymore “
