The Best of Santa Fe issue came out yesterday, and we celebrated the fact that it was done with a huge party at Swig, a fancy-schmancy feels-like-I-never-left-New-York nightclub. This was good and bad. Good because it was a lot of fun; bad because the open bar has left me hurting this morning.
I was noticeably dragging my ass around the office when my editor suggested that perhaps I eat something. So I went to a coffee shop to pick up a breakfast burrito and an americano, and it took me so long to articulate my request that I felt to the need to explain myself to the barista.
“I’m sorry. I’m pretty hungover,” I said.
His response: “Yeah, I was wondering. You seem a little … off.”
I assured him that I am not normally this strange, and headed on my way. But then I started thinking (which, obviously, was a challenge): I hadn’t met the barista before this morning. So when he said that I was a little off, he didn’t mean it in the “you’re not your usual self” sense. He meant, “You’re fucking weird.”
So yeah, it’s going to be a long day.
I’m off. Off the wagon?

Oof. Open bars always seem like a good idea at the time. Often, in hindsight, that turns out not to be the case.

Take it for what it’s worth – an open bar is an invitation to inebriated bliss… Nobody said the consequences to easy access to liquor was going to be pretty… HehThe new profile pic is prolific | pretty | positively radiant… and I gather that photo was taken when you were… on? Heh.Positive Vibes!

I see no down side to an open bar. Even if you do have to work the next day and you feel like shit. It was still free liquor and that’s awesome!
