Tsunami relief

Quick note. It seems that some of the websites for organizations that are helping victims of the tsunami are having some trouble. I tried to donate to several, but their servers must not be working. So in the end, I used this one: Oxfam America. Their website is working well.

I feel the need to justify my choice of donating to Oxfam, since I spent a good chunk of my thesis arguing against Oxfam’s development theories, but concluded that in the end, while it is not a radical organization, it does take the most pragmatic approach to reforming the injustices caused by the free-market global economy. It is a trustworthy and forward-thinking organization, and while many theorists may argue that its approach to IMF reform is counterproductive and misses the mark entirely, I think that in the end Oxfam is one of the better organizations out there. Not that my opinion matters. And since we’re talking about tsunami relief, not free trade, I suppose my opinion matters even less.
